Battlefield Bad Company 2

Truth be told I miss the Battlefield series.  BF2 was probably the best version and I have fond memories of playing the game.  Back in the day I'd go with about 8 or so friends down to the local PC cafe and we would "squad up" and pwn the hell out of some n00bs.  For my money I think BF2 wins the title for best squad based game play (best FPS goes to Call of Duty, emphasis on Modern Warfare).  The ranking system in BF2 was kind of a pain in the ass (as were the weapon unlocks) but no game is perfect.  The futuristic version of BF never really got off the ground, and thus I've been waiting for the newest incarnation of the game.

Well it looks like that day will soon come with Battlefield Bad Company 2.  I was quite disappointed when the first Bad Company was denied a PC release, but if all goes as planned Bad Company 2 will be on PS3, XBOX 360, and PC on Sept. 30th.  That will should hold us all over before L4D2, Bioshock 2, CODMW2, and a few others come out :)

Mech Warrior is Back!

When I got my very first PC back in '96 the original Mech Warrior game was the heat!  I spent hours and hours playing that game and even went out and purchased the Microsoft Sidewinder joystick to aid in the robot pwnage.  I'm proud to tell you that those Mech Warrior days of yesteryear are back!

Supposedly some of the above footage is "in game" and although the graphics are decent I've got some concerns.  First off the Skull Boss character literally looks like the head was stolen out of Lego based game.  The cylindrical shaped head and square body are far from scary.

Next the mech fight feels an awful lot like the battle of the Monitor and the Merrimack.  For all you non Civil War buffs, the Monitor and Merrimack were two heavily armored ships.  They took turns firing cannon balls at each other and the balls bounced off or did little damage because of the armor.  A long slow and boring battle, which is how Mech Warriors feels.  I have visions of long tedious battles in the middle of a desloate I Am Lengend esce hull of a city.  Long shot for shot trading fights whilst ducking for cover behind a conveniently placed parking structure.

So who knows how this game will shake out.  It has a TBA release date, and will be available for XBOX 360 and PC.

Left 4 Dead 2!!!

It really doesn't get much better than blasting your way through the zombie apocalypse using copious amounts of fire power with the aid of a few friends.  Left 4 Dead has become one of my all time favorite first person shooters, and I'm pleased to tell you all about the Left 4 Dead 2!!!!!!!

As you can see in the above teaser, Left 4 Dead 2 takes place in the South.  The quest spans from Savannah. Georgia all the way to the New Orleans French Quarter.  We are introduced to a whole new cast of survivors, melee weapons (axe, chainsaw, frying pan, bat, etc.), boss zombies, and new campaigns/maps.  This game will be all around badass, and yes the Tank is now wearing overalls

Here is some actual game play footage.  I'm not quite digging the southern style score with the fiddle blaring away during intense actions scenes, but I'm assuming it will grow on me. The melee weapons appear to be awesome in actual combat, and will be a nice replacement to constantly shoving the infected back.  Did anyone else catch the characters in the white HAZMAT suites?  I'm guessing these might be CEDA workers trying to quell the infected, which would then make me wonder if they would also be trying to attack the survivors.

Left 4 Dead 2 will be released in November for XBOX 360 and PC.  Btw, if you are still playing the original Left 4 Dead on PC, hit me up via Twitter and well kill some zombies together.
