Carbon Fiber M&P Series

Ah man, I saw that picture above I thought that gun looked pretty sweet.  What is that strange checker board pattern you are seeing?  It is a carbon fiber Smith and Wesson M&P series.  Check out this video that has a little bit of info about this new pistol.  Feel free to fast forward through that 20 second long intro.

I've had an M&P Shield in 9mm, and I really like it.  Had I known a carbon fiber model was around the corner I might have waited a little while.  Nonetheless, the M&P series are solid and I opted for the one with the additional thumb safety.  Unfortunately it doesn't sound like the thumb safety will be on the carbon fiber versions.

I did some Googling and found that Champion Arms is selling the above pictured S&W M&P in 9mm for $510.  Pretty fairly priced if you ask me.  The carbon fiber should bring the weight down a little, but I can't imagine it matters too much compared to the polymer the M&P series typically comes in.  I'm also thinking you'll feel a little more recoil, but being that it is 9mm or .40 it probably ain't that big of a deal.  The dimensions and mags are still the same so no need to worry about finding new holsters or other accessories.

What do you guys think?  Would you rock a checkerboard pistol?

500 Smith & Wesson vs. Tree

Remember that rule that your grandfather taught you about shooting?  "Know your target and what lies beyond it."  It is one of those common sense things that most people don't really think about, but it is still very important.  A couple of guys decided to film their buddy shoot a .500 Smith and Wesson for the first time.  This gun is great for stopping bears and low self esteem; it also packs a helluva punch.  Check out the vid:

Wow... A few things.  First off, did that guy run at his buddies with his finger on the trigger and the muzzle pointed at them?  I'm sure no one anticipated this tree going down, but still maybe consider a back stop that is greater in width than a sapling.  On the flip side of things I'm pretty impressed a single round managed to take down that whole tree.

Shot Show 2013 Part 4: Chiappa Badger, Guitar Rifle Case, & AK47 Rachet System

Shot Show 2013 continues to crank out great stuff!  Get caught up: Day 1Day 2, and Day 3.

Chiappa Badger Series

I've always had a unique fascination with .22 survival rifles.  I've heard the AR7 is kinda crappy, and doesn't float as well one would expect.  Springfield made a cool .410 and .22 double action barrel that is now very expensive and again kinda lack luster.  The Chiappa little badger looks really bad ass, and I like the optional pistol grip, folding design, and overall light weight.  The only big down side I can see is the single round capacity.  $169 seems like a very fair price!

The double badger is kinda like the combo I mentioned above that Springfield made; .22/.410 combo.

Hazard 4 Rifle Guitar Case

Did you ever see that sub par movie Desperado?  It is really quite awful but there was a kind of memorable scene where these guys kept all these cool weapons stashed in a guitar casse. This case looks like it could probably handle a full length AR and the exterior pockets are great; MSRP of $200.

Parabellum AK Ratchet Charging System

I shot a G3 full auto once; it kicked like a mule and climbed about 3 after each burst .  The cool part was chopping that slide release, which instantly takes to you to boss status.  Parabellum Armament has designed a similar system for AK47s and it looks pretty sweet.  No word on price or release date.

Raven Concealment M&P

The Smith and Wesson M&P has been on my wish list for quite a while.  Polymer, striker fired, and they have a clickable safety!  It is almost like a Glock for 1911 owners, lol.  Raven Concealment is known for making simple kydex holsters that are back ordered for eternity high quality minimalist holsters.  Who knows if concealed carry will come to the average law abiding, tax paying citizens of Los Angeles and Orange counties, but if it does this is probably the holster I'd choose.
