Don't Count On Wasp Spray To Save Your From Bad Guys

I think I have an old tube of pepper spray floating around  somewhere...  If you live in a state that isn't firearm friendly, sometimes pepper spray or a folding knife are your only defense against zombies.  I also heard that wasp spray was a fine alternative if for some reason you couldn't get your hands on pepper spray.  Check out this video that might disprove that theory.

Yea that stuff looks friggin useless...  I remember hearing that the Today Show recommended wasp spray to defend your home, but I wouldn't count on it.  That being said, I have used it on a few wasps nests and that did work.

Yes, this is Shot Show week, and I'll be sure to share with you guys all the interesting things I stumble upon this week.

Disarm With Krav Maga

I took an intro to Krav Maga class and found it interesting...  I'm not sure that is the only martial art I'd stick to forever, but it had some good, practical, real world stuff mixed in that you won't find in some of the other the other disciplines.  One of the things Krav does teach is some disarming drills.  I saw this vid posted on ENDO, and I thought I'd share it with you guys.  Go ahead and skip the first minute to see the action:

I think this is a skill to be learned in real life and not through a DVD, but that is just my two cents.  What did you guys think?

Concealed Weapons Holders Put To The Test

The old saying goes "When seconds count, police are only minutes away."  If you can get a concealed carry  permit it your state, by all means do it.  A Texas ABC affiliate put together a great active shooter scenario in which actual concealed carry holders got to put their skills to the test.  Check out the video:

Well, it looks like a few of those folks could use a little more practice, and open carry might not always be the best choice.  What did you guys think?

Here's What To Do In The Case Of An Active Shooter - According LA County Sheriffs

PSAs have really stepped up their game over the years.  Back in the day they used to just be poorly shot and edited videos about buckling your seat belt and not falling asleep while smoking a cigarette.  Now they involve active shooters and lots of blood and violence.  Check this instructional vid on what to do in the case of an active shooter, created by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs:

Wow, did you see the blood spray out on the window in that first office shooting?  Also, why are all the active shooters white?  No mention of a CCW?  Go run and hide?  Do you think if the general public were in a situation like this and complete and utter chaos was happening, they would remember any of these tips?

What do you guys think?

Amtrak's Safety Video: Defend Yourself With Duffle Bags

Do you remember the last time you took a train?  I'm not talking about Disneyland or some kind of trolley at the local park, I'm talking about Amtrak.  Apparently people who are afraid of domestic flights and still need to travel use Amtrak to slowly cross the country because covered wagons are no longer an option.  Amtrak has put together an informational video that shows you how to defend yourself from an active shooter situation using a duffle bag...

Take flight, take cover, take action.  Truthfully, this is actually pretty good advice for most people.  Leaving the scene is optimal, and taking cover in a train station sounds a little dicey.  Fighting off an attacker when there are no other options... with a duffle bag?  Throw something at the shooter and yell?  WTF?!?  Yikes, that rolling carry on bag is your only defense against a crazed criminal toting an illegal weapon I'd say things are looking pretty rough.
