::sigh:: Does anyone remember how incredibly terrible Pirates of the Caribbean 3 was? ANYONE? I think after Disney realized Prince of Persia would not be its new cash cow, they went back to milking pirates. Don't expect anything too new or exciting, but Ian McShane as blackbeard is pretty sweet. Let's hope this marks the end of the franchise and Jerry Bruckheimer can go back to making crappy shows on ABC.

I want pirates to go away... forever. Look, I understand the first Pirates of the Caribbean was great swashbuckling fun, but after that the franchise sunk like the black pearl. Alas, Disney seeing this franchise as a cash cow and the fact that Price of Persia was a failure continues to develop more stumbling Jack Sparrow.

How do you reinvent Disney's Aladdin? Take a gay cowboy and give him an Arab outfit and fancy dagger. POW! You have Prince of Persia. The movie is based on a video game (which I have vague memories of it being half decent) in which you can turn back the sands of time. So if you get capped slashed with a sword the magic dagger whisks you back in time.

I feel kind of meh about the Persian Prince. The Jerry Bruckheimer-ness of the whole production has dampened my spirits. I fear a future Disney franchise akin to Pirates of the Caribbean which will be beaten like a dead horse to the tune of four sequels.
