Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has released a nice video showing off Survivor Mode. This feels and looks an awful lot like Modern Warfare 2's single player challenge mode, which I really liked. I felt like that mode gave a lot of life to game especially after I had beaten the campaign mode and needed a break from the n00b tubing hackers in multiplayer. Enjoy the vid.
Comic Con brought a new trailer for Battlefield 3 multiplayer. I dare say, I think I'm officially more excited for BF3 than the next call of duty. Battlefield Bad Company was pretty fun, but most noticeable about the game was the EPIC sound design. Everything sounds friggin realistic. Shooting sounds are muffled inside buildings, and there is a weird 3d feeling of the sound paired with my 5.1 speakers. I see that same excellence of sound in BF3 and I really can't wait to play it!
Btw, I got an invite for beta testing which should be live in September. I'll keep you posted. Enjoy the trailer!
The Interwebs are buzzing about MW3. As a conservative estimate, this will probably be one of the biggest selling video games of all time, or at least until MW4. The story details have been leaked at Kotaku, which honestly feels like finding out the leaked storyline of a Michael Bay film. One can only assume a poorly told story, that bounces from the perspective of different characters, and many different theaters of war. Don't expect a smooth transition cohesion between fronts; Modern Warfare is about choppiness. I wouldn't doubt if you see several running and jumping/diving into moving helicopter action scenes as well as a weak sniper mission. Supposedly the story picks up where Modern Warfare 2 left off (I forgot too) with the hunt for the evil Russian villain. Like a Transformers movie, this video game will be lots of fun and light on substance.
The good people over at the Firearm Blog have done a nice write up of the weapons that will be used in the game. Some notable additions include the Magpul hidden gun (that I've been emailed about 8,000 times from a Shotshow several years back) as well as the new Keltec shotgun. Unfortunately, the Winchester 1887 will also be making return; n00bs rejoice. Click the link above for the full list.
Four different teaser trailers have been released. All show a green wire frame of a major city in an allied country (US, France, Germany, and England) being attacked or on the verge of attack; there isn't too much to glean beyond that. I would assume those countries would be where some of the action takes place as well as a few spots in Soviet Russia.
Overall, I'm really looking forward to Modern Warefare 3. Call of Duty has become quite stale (I haven't touched it in months) and MW3 surely won't dissapoint. I have high hopes for the mulitplayer version as it promises 20 maps and a unique Spec Ops mode. Within Spec Ops there are two different styles, Survival and Mission. My guess is that survival is a zombie style overwhelming type game and Mission would involve either tortillas or building a church with Indians some kind of planting bomb/destroying objective. The new weapons and hopefully the return and improvement of the challenges/unlocks from MW2 will really make the multiplayer version epic.
The big video game convention E3 isn't too far out, and should release a ton more info. Stay tuned for more details.
I love Call of Duty. Plainly stated it is still one of the best FPS franchises ever. The developers have gone with some new ideas for the multiplayer section of the game which they have affectionately titled Wager Mode. In this new style Wager Mode lets you bet with in game points if you can be in the top 3 players in this free for all match. There are various sub modes within Wager Mode which define which weapons will be used.
Although I'm very curious, I'm already concerned about the threat of douche bag hackers and the tied hands of the players abiding by the rules. I hope Treyarch has figured out a way to let the players regulate themselves, or wager mode will be a severe pain in the ass.
As I have said MANY, MANY, times before Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be the best FPS to date. Check out this new clip showing off some multi player action. Please note that near the end of the video there is an EPIC knife throw kill! Also, they show off a cool new feature of having a host drop out and a new one is selected ASAP!
