Transformers 3 Teaser

Alright lets get one thing straight from the beginning.... THIS MOVIE WILL HAVE NO PLOT!  Yea, yea I know you watched the Transformers 3 teaser below and the whole retro Moon thing looks intriguing.  Believe me, I get it.  The future of Transformers 3 lies not in a robot that looks like Gandolf, but rather on Michael Bay who will spend countless millions for a plotless movie with lots of AWESOME explosions.  The sad part is I'll probably see it :(

Over the Top Action Movie: FAIL

I love action films, and I'm even willing to forgive bad story and acting as long as the action is considerably awesome (Michael Bay films are simply unforgivable as a genre).  Films like the most recent Rambo film, Tears of the Sun, and sometimes films with Jason Statham.

Sorry about the video link yesterday; looks like copyright monsters got to it.  Hopefully this youtube version will last for a bit.

I saw the trailer for Expendables today, and I was disgusted.  This really is the epitome of all bad action films chock full of haggard tired aging mature action heroes of yesterday. I could almost visualize the pitch meeting:

We'll take a Wild Hogs type movie and make it bad ass with guns.... and stuff.  Yea!  People will flock to this movie because old guys with muscles are funny and cool!  Um... Yes, [Insert president of big company here], all of the actors are currently out of rehab.

Poop.

Gerard Butler: Law Abiding Citizen

Gerard Butler is back (w/o Spartans or Katherine Heigl) along side Jamie Foxx (he is not a crazed or blind musician in this film) in Law Abiding Citizen

I'll admit I'm intrigued... Law Abiding Citizen appears to have the normal "explosion and weapons" fare of the typical popcorn film, and a pinch of plot and storyline on top (Michael Bay take notes please).  I'm going on record now saying this film will be passable; nothing amazing, but more like something to do on a Friday night.  This film won't win any awards and will probably contribute to the dumbing down of American cinema and society make for an three sentence conversation around the water cooler on the following Monday.

Yea... I'll probably end up seeing Law Abiding Citizen.

Transformers 2: New Trailer

There is something I really enjoy about the Transformers films.  Perhaps it is the throw back to my youth; revisiting the nostalgia of animated robots trading blows for the salvation of the universe.  I found the first Transformers film to be exceptionally entertaining.  I have a feeling the sequel will transform the franchise to a new level.

My hopes for this film aren't set too high.  At the end of the day I recognize all Michael Bay films for two things: action and entertainment; if that's delivered in a Bay film, I'm happy.  The first Transformers had all the explosions and robot goodness I could hope for, yet as a friend stated so eloquently stated"You could drive a transformer through the plot holes in the film."  It is possible that Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen may have some semblance of a story or plot but lets all agree that's not what we expect to see... and we're okay with that :)
