Blocked Rifle Explosion

I recently finished my Hunter's Safety Course and several times our instructor told us of the importance of making sure your barrel was clear especially if you've taken a spill in the dirt.  I assumed this to be common sense and figured I could throw a "boresnake" in my ruck and call it a day.  Well, not everyone has the foresight to make sure their isn't full of frozen mud and problems can ensue.

Blocked Rifle Barrel Explodes - Watch more Funny Videos

I have very little information to go on, so I'm making deductions based on what I can see in the video.  I'm guessing these two fellas were out hunting snipes deer (or other four legged game) and fell whilst walking about in nature.  After falling this hunter proceeded to hoist himself out of the mud using his rifle like a flag pole, and jammed the barrel deep within the mud as a solid platform.  He got up, made sure his skoal long cut had not fallen out, and brushed the mire off the outside of the rifle.  Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum trampled through the woods and eventually came across a nice buck grazing out in the distance.  The camera was ready, shooting stick in place, gloved removed, deep breath, squeeze... BANG! The rifle explodes.

As someone else pointed out it does seem a pinch ironic that after such a catastrophic event both hunters continue to carry on with noise discipline.  You know, because the sound of an exploding rifle doesn't scare game like the sound of bullets.

Listen folks, keep your barrels clear and don't be stupid.
