Weapon Burried For 15 Years, Dug Up and Still Functions

One can really never guess when the zombies will strike. It might be this weekend or sometime in the future when firearms may not be as readily available. One man found a solution to this problem by sealing and burying his rifle.... for 15 YEARS!!!!!1

Charles Wood lives out in the sticks and took such a precaution after being worried about an uncertain future for firearms. His methods were quite simple and consisted of a disassembled Ruger Mini 14 and some solvents/desiccant. He used an oil that is meant for tools that are going to be stored in damp places and coated the whole rifle. He then vacuum sealed all the parts with a hot iron and shop-vac, and placed them in a sealed PVC pipe with some cleaning supplies and ammo for the future.

He found a nice spot out the middle of the woods and buried the pipe vertically in the ground where a tree and been uprooted. He ran into a little bit of difficulty finding this spot 15 years later after a bit of the landscape had changed and other trees had been cut down. All in all a pretty creative idea, but for city dwellers like myself this isn't as easy of a feat. I'd love to bury an emergency rifle, but as a young person in the Southern California area, I've moved 5 times in the past 8 years and only a few of those places even had a yard.
Read the whole tale here and a special thanks to 50CalRay at SemiAuto Rifles for this story.

Why dig it up now? If anything he should be burying more guns!
